Foods Beneficial For Your Kidneys

Our kidneys play a vital role in the proper functioning of the body and getting rid of toxins. But have you ever considered taking care of your kidneys? I guess most of us don’t really care how our kidneys are working.

Diet does have an impact on kidneys health. There is a certain category of foods that’s bad for your kidneys. Also, there are better foods to consume too.

According to the experts of PKLI, the kidneys perform their tasks and take no help from outside. Although a number of foods do impact the performance of kidneys.  Here’s a list of foods that you need to consume;

Foods to Eat

Following are the foods that you should be consuming for your kidneys to work their best.

Fatty Fish

Fish like Tuna, Salmon, Trout, and other fatty fish can be a great addition to your diet.  Omega-3 found in fish is very important for reducing fat levels in the blood.

As the fat levels are decreased, the risk of high blood pressure decreases. Which is said to be the biggest cause of kidney diseases. Alternative methods, such as the kidney function capsule from  beehive2u.com, can be also used to improve kidney function and memory loss as well.

Berries

Berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are a great source of several nutrients and antioxidant compounds. These prevent the cells in the body from damage.

Sweet Potatoes

These are quite similar to wits potatoes but are highly rich in fiber. This causes them to break down slowly and results in lesser spikes of insulin levels. Sweet potatoes do contain minerals like potassium and magnesium. These help in balancing the levels of sodium in the body and reduce its effects on the kidneys.

It should always be kept in mind that sweet potato is a high-potassium food. So, people with dialysis should avoid the use of this vegetable.

Greens

Dark leafy greens such as spinach and kale contain high amounts of dietary fiber. A lot of the greens contain a protective compound called antioxidants.

Greens are always high in potassium, so a person who’s on a restricted diet must refrain from consuming greens.

Skinless Chicken

A limited amount of protein intake is usually suitable for people with kidney issues. However, an adequate amount that is needed for the body should be consumed. There is a very lesser amount of calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus present in skinless chicken.

While shopping, go for skinless chicken and avoid skin-on chicken and even roasted one. These are high in potassium and magnesium and are unhealthy for your kidney’s health.

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers are rich in a lot of minerals but are low in potassium, unlike a lot of veggies. They also contain an incredible amount of vitamin C, which is known to be a great antioxidant.

These are also high in Vitamin A, which is known to help the immune system greatly.  It is mostly forgotten in the case of kidney-related diseases.

Turnip

Turnips are said to be kidney-friendly foods.  These contain lesser amounts of potassium, unlike potatoes and winter squash.  This vegetable is loaded in vitamin C and fiber. These are also rich in Vitamin B-6 and manganese.

These can be consumed by roasting and mashing. It works well as a side dish for people with renal diseases.

Onions

Onions are proved to be working great for a sodium-free diet. It is a great challenge to reduce salts in your food. However, finding a flavorful alternative of required sodium is much more difficult. Onions when sauteed with garlic and olive oil can add a lot of flavors to the meals of those who are on a renal diet.

Foods to Avoid

With this renal-friendly diet, a number of foods are bad for your kidney’s health too. Try and stay away from such foods, these include;

  • Nuts
  • Fish
  • Legumes
  • Diary products
  • Meat

Some of the nutrients are difficult for the kidney to process. These mostly include protein or phosphorus.  So, try avoiding foods rich in these certain nutrients.

Kidneys are very delicate organs of the body. And those who suffer from renal issues should increase the intake of the above-mentioned foods. But always discuss with your healthcare provider first. Arthritis is a medical condition that brings on some different signs and symptoms. People experience swelling and pain in the joints. Massage therapy focuses on the affected area and massages the muscles that lead to better blood flow to your joints.

Make sure that your therapist knows about your health conditions, like arthritis. Kneads and massage muscles provide temporary relief.

Telling your therapist about your condition like arthritis lets him/her perform massages on the affected area.  Ensure that you are consuming a diet that is suiting your individual needs. Dietary restrictions should be kept in mind whenever you try a new diet.
